Our Story

The Names Behind Dood

The name says it all. Dood is a blend of the founders' surnames – two friends, Harry Wood and Tom Daniels, behind one shared idea: eyewear with real personality, made to be lived in, at a price that feels fair.

They founded Dood in Bath after a frustration they both knew well: you couldn't find characterful, coloured-lens sunglasses anywhere without a designer price tag. The market felt beige – rows of near-identical black frames, or genuinely distinctive designs locked behind eye-watering prices. So they set out to make their own, and to price them so you never have to think twice.

The Style

Taking cues from icons such as Steve McQueen, James Dean, Audrey Hepburn and Marilyn Monroe, Dood blends the effortless charm of the 60s and 70s with a modern edge – a limited-edition range of unisex frames with signature coloured lenses, made to stand apart and to suit any face, any occasion.

The Craft

Chosen in Bath, made by hand in China, with Italian acetate from Mazzucchelli – one of the world's finest eyewear materials. Every frame is finished with durable steel hinges and our signature UV400 lenses, certified to UK and EU standards.

We choose eco-conscious bio-acetate wherever we can – a plant-based, lower-impact take on the traditional material – because frames this good shouldn't cost the earth. Every pair carries an embossed Dood monogram and arrives with a protective case and cleaning cloth: considered details, built to last, without the luxury markup.

On the Road

You'll find us where the good days happen – festivals, shows and pop-ups – served from the back of our vintage Piaggio Ape, the full range lined up on its wooden shelves. There's a lovely symmetry to it: a classic Italian vehicle, and frames made from Italian Mazzucchelli acetate. It's the best way to meet you, and to see our sunglasses doing exactly what they're made for – being worn.

We're proud to have featured in British GQ, too – a nod that characterful, well-made eyewear doesn't need a four-figure price tag.
